The Purser handles the lines as the Minnehaha leaves or approaches the dock. This is a key element in handling the vessel at times when maneuverability is limited due to slow speeds and restricted waters. The Purser greets and assists passengers on and off the vessel as well as taking tickets and recording fares.
The Assistant Purser job is to assist the Purser.
They may help the passengers get on and off
the vessel, take tickets and fares, and most
important, watch to make sure passengers
are having a safe and rewarding cruise.
The Assistant Purser is continually acquiring
on-the-job training and may wish to someday
become a Purser or even a Captain or Engineer.
2011 positions are filled. Applications are
being accepted for the 2012 season.
