1910 Sale of Big Island Park

On December 29, 1910, the Minneapolis and St Paul Suburban Railway Company sold off some off its real estate and assets to the Minnetonka and White Bear Navigation Company. The transaction was between two subsidary companies within the Twin City Rapid Transit Company. One could guess it was the result of a tax ruling by the Supreme Court (financial report).

The six page document itemizes the assets transfered, one being the Steamboat Minnehaha. The document also offers us a glimpse into the number and sizes of buildings/structures present on Big Island in 1910.

The Park closed down at the end of its 1911 operating season. Today we walk the land, which is now a part of the City of Orono park system, and can only imagine what an exciting Amusement Park it once was.
