Cruise to BIG ISLAND!!!!

Attention Everyone!

The moment has finally arrived and all of MLM is absolutely ecstatic for the Steamboat Minnehaha’s Return to Big Island.

July 19th the Minnehaha will (tentatively) shuttle passengers to and from the Island from 2:40-6pm. This will be a chance for all of you who do not have a boat of your own to come out and walk the trail which is just over a mile long around the Island. The beautiful bluffs and ruins of the Old Amusement park are great picture taking sites. This Return of the Minnehaha is also Historical as it will begin to take the role on that the Larger ship held while the Minnehaha was in service. FYI the Minnehaha did not stop at the island on a regular basis, in fact there were much larger ferry boats that did that. Minnehaha was a streetcar boat and most of its passengers were lake residents heading to and from work as cars were not readily available at the time and there were no roads around the lake.

SO I hope you all come out to the lake for this very historical journey as the Minnehaha takes on a purpose once again. I say this because if you do not have a boat it IS impossible to get on big island. With this purpose comes increased ridership (hopefully) and that would definitely help out the museum in a time where fuel prices are skyrocketing and we have just lowered our ticket prices.

Hope to see you on The Island!
